Our Story
JVC Group was founded in 2009 as J. Volk Consulting. In 2022, we joined forces with the premiere landscape architecture firm, Cody Johnson Studio, and rebranded as Johnson Volk Consulting. In 2026, we adopted the name JVC Group to reflect a more modern identity that reflects both our legacy and our future.
Over the years, our firm has continued to grow and expand its services, including the addition of dedicated land surveying and architectural departments. These capabilities have strengthened our ability to serve clients holistically, helping shape JVC Group into the multidisciplinary regional firm we are today.
With more than 17 years of experience, JVC Group continues to evolve and broaden its client offerings. We approach every project with intention, carrying forward a longstanding commitment to integrity, initiative, and innovation.
2009
J. Volk Consulting Forms
J. Volk Consulting, Inc. is founded by Jay Volk, PE as a small local consulting firm in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Compared to larger competitors, this more intimate size allowed the company to be agile and more responsive to client needs. It also permitted the most experienced and talented design professionals to stay closer to the clients and the design process.
2012
Tom Dayton, PE, Joins The Executive Team
In 2012, a secondary office in Southlake, TX, was established to better support our clients in and around the Fort Worth area. At this time, Tom Dayton, PE, joined the team bringing with him years as an experienced project manager. Tom has been a partner and Vice President since 2012.

Cody Johnson Studios, LLC Forms
Cody Johnson Studio, LLC is founded by Cody Johnson, RLA, ASLI, LI in 2014 as a landscape architecture firm based in Dallas-Fort Worth. It dedicated itself to providing superior design solutions and exceptional customer service for a diverse client and project base.
With an emphasis on exceptional customer service, quick response times, and an intense level of detail in project management and design, Cody Johnson Studio, LLC desired to provide unparalleled service.
2017
Ryan Reynolds, RPLS, Joins The Executive Team
In June of 2017, Ryan Reynolds, Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS), joined the J. Volk Consulting team adding professional land surveying as part of our full-service approach to expand client offerings. With over 10 years of experience in the field, Ryan quickly started growing an excellent team.
The right team makes all the difference. From buying the first company vehicle to utilizing the latest drone technology, our survey team continues to grow with the industry’s technology. Since its inception, the survey team has expanded to include two Registered Professional Land Surveyors, five FAA-certified Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operators, four field crews, and an outstanding in-house drafting department.

Claudio Segovia, PE, Joins The Executive Team
At J. Volk Consulting, we take pride in helping grow the next generation of civil engineers. From intern to senior management, the appointment of Claudio Segovia, PE, to the leadership team allowed the firm to leverage his experience, leadership, and ingenuity in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex civil engineering landscape and add an exceptional engineer to our executive team. In January 2022, Johnson Volk Consulting is formed. The fast-growing civil engineering firm J. Volk Consulting, Inc., merged with the industry-leading landscape design firm Cody Johnson Studio, LLC, to create Johnson Volk Consulting. Read More Here

Johnson Volk Consulting is pleased to announce that Cody Johnson, RLA, ASLA, LI, transitioned from Executive Vice President to President on January 1, 2026. Having played an integral role on the executive team since 2022, Cody brings strategic vision, extensive industry experience, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients while fostering a positive culture for our staff.
